How to generate random numbers
- Set the range
Type the lowest and highest numbers you want, or tap a quick range like 1 to 10 or 1 to 100. Negative numbers work too.
- Choose how many
Pick up to 1,000 numbers at once. Leave Allow repeats off and every number will be different.
- Generate
Press Generate, tap the big number, or press the space bar. Results appear instantly.
- Copy or keep going
Copy numbers puts them on your clipboard, comma separated. Recent results stay in the list below.
What people use random numbers for
Raffles and giveaways
Number the tickets or entries, then draw one or several winners with no repeats.
Classrooms
Pick a random student number, quiz question, or page to read.
Games
Replace a lost die with 1 to 6, or roll anything else. For real dice and D&D notation, use the Dice Roller.
Samples and testing
Choose random rows from a spreadsheet, random houses for a survey, or random test cases.
Lottery-style picks
Draw several different numbers from a range and sort them. Just for fun: no generator can predict a real lottery.
Tiebreakers
Each person picks a number, then generate one. Closest wins. For two people, a Coin Flip is quicker.
Fair by design
Every number comes from your browser's built-in secure random generator (the same source used to create encryption keys), not from Math.random. We also use rejection sampling: the few raw values that would make some numbers slightly more likely are thrown away and redrawn. So in a range of 1 to 100, each number has exactly a 1 in 100 chance.
Nothing is sent to a server. The numbers are created on your device the moment you press Generate. Prefer to watch the result spin? The Number Picker Wheel draws from the same kind of range on a wheel, and there are ready-made wheels for 1 to 10 and 1 to 100.
Frequently asked questions
Is this random number generator truly random?
It uses crypto.getRandomValues, which draws on randomness collected by your operating system. That is the standard for security software, and far better than the Math.random function many sites use. With rejection sampling on top, every number in your range is equally likely.
Can I generate numbers without repeats?
Yes. Leave Allow repeats off. If you ask for more numbers than the range holds, you get every number in the range once, in random order.
What is the biggest range I can use?
Min and Max can be anywhere from minus one trillion to one trillion, as long as the range is under about 4.29 billion numbers wide.
Can I pick a random number between 1 and 10?
Yes. Tap the 1 to 10 quick range and it generates right away. Each number from 1 to 10 has a 10 percent chance.
