      How to roll dice online

      1. Pick your dice

Choose the type, from d4 to d100, and how many to roll (1 to 20).

      2. Add a modifier

Enter a bonus or penalty, such as +5 for an attack roll.

      3. Roll

Press Roll, tap the tray, or press the space bar. Each die shows its value and the total appears in large type.

      4. Or type notation

Enter 1d20+5, 3d8, 2d6+1d4+2, or d% and press Roll it.

      For D&D players

Dice notation for D&D and other games

The format is the number of dice, the letter d, then the number of sides. 2d6+3 means roll two six-sided dice and add 3. A few extras are supported:

      • kh and kl keep the highest or lowest dice. 2d20kh1 is advantage, and 2d20kl1 is disadvantage.
      • 4d6kh3 rolls four six-sided dice and drops the lowest, the usual way to roll ability scores. The dropped die is shown faded and crossed out.
      • Mixed terms work with + and -, like 1d8+1d6-1.
      • d% is the same as d100.

The Advantage, Disadvantage, and Ability score buttons fill these in for you. A die that rolls its highest face gets a gold glow, so natural 20s are easy to spot.

      FAQ

      Frequently asked questions

      Are the dice rolls random?

Each die uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, so a d20 shows every face from 1 to 20 with exactly a 5% chance. Plain modulo math can make low numbers a tiny bit more common, and rejection sampling removes that bias.

      Is my roll history saved?

Your last 20 rolls and your dice settings are kept in this browser's local storage, so they are still there if you refresh mid-session. Clear history wipes them.

How many dice can I roll at once?

Up to 20 with the dice picker, and up to 100 dice in total when you type notation, with up to 1,000 sides each.

Can I use it on my phone at the table?

Yes. It fits small screens, the quick roll buttons are large enough to tap, and it keeps working without a signal once loaded.
